As the title indicates, Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole focuses on a group of people whose convictions earned them life sentences as young offenders. Following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, they’re now fighting to have those sentences reconsidered—hoping that their prison time will be reduced or that they might be released outright.
However, the people affected by their crimes may have different opinions on seeing these individuals receive any kind of concession or having them return to their communities. Every episode additionally has comments from the victim’s loved ones, as well as psychologists, reporters who covered the case, and members of law enforcement as they all debate the issues surrounding children being sentenced to life in prison.
The Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole season 2 premiere date is Aug. 26 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, meaning that the series will join Accused: Guilty or Innocent on Thursdays to form a two-hour true crime block for A&E that’s focused on incarceration instead of investigation.
