HBO Max announced that Parker is set to play the new character of Lisa Todd Wexley, a “Park Avenue mother of three” who works as a documentarian. It’s not clear how Lisa is connected to the original Sex and the City characters.
Parker’s success does call into question her availability to return as Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller in Chicago PD season 10. In addition to And Just Like That, she’s also starring in the Lifetime thriller Safe Space. That’s two projects she’s committed to outside of Chicago PD, which means her availability may be limited depending on how filming schedules line up; according to Deadline Hollywood, production on the Sex and the City sequel has already started.
The silver lining for crime drama enthusiasts is that there’s potential for an unofficial One Chicago crossover—Chicago Fire star David Eigenberg is reprising his Sex and the City role in And Just Like That, so if Lisa meets Steve Brady, that will give Chicago fans something to be entertained by.
A premiere date for the revival has yet to be announced.
